Arkansas Delta area with great real estate service.
Here's a little bit about a few of the towns in the
area.
The quaint town of Marion lies on the banks of the
Mighty Mississippi River. This growing bedroom community
to Memphis, TN is filled with culture, charm and a lot
of charisma. Marion became the county seat of Crittenden
County in 1836, the year Arkansas became a state. Marion
was known for timber and a friendly place for steamboats
to stop along their journey of the Mississippi. As times
change, timber was harvested and Marion became a Mecca
for farming. The rich soils of the river were ideal for
cotton, wheat, rice, soybeans and milo.
Marion is still very much an agricultural town but has
quickly become home to some major manufacturing &
distribution plants including home to Hino a division of
Toyota, Union Pacific’s Intermodal Rail Port, &
Vintage Verandah. These are just a few to scratch the surface.
Marion is also developing a 90 acre Town Center called
Angelo’s Grove. The Town Center will be home to major
retailers, restaurants, hotels and even a cinema and a
small residential neighborhood! Angelo’s Grove is
already home to several national chains with many more
to come.
Marion is a great place to live and is very family
oriented. Marion has an excellent public school system
that is ranked as one of the top achieving school
districts in the State of Arkansas. Marion is in close
proximity to many other Educational Institutes.
Arkansas State University is 45 min north to Jonesboro;
ASU also conducts class at Mid-South Community College
located in West Memphis. Just a short drive across the
bridge to Memphis you will find Christian Brothers
University, Rhodes College, Lemon Owen, Baptist College
of Health Science and The University Of Memphis which
now offers in-state resident tuition to Crittenden
County residents.
MYSA has a wonderful organized sports league that
provides basketball, football, baseball, soccer and
cheerleading to over 1000 kids a year. Marion and the
surrounding area offer endless recreational
opportunities such as Golf, Fishing, Hunting, and
Camping. The convenience of being only a short 10 min.
drive to Memphis bring about many other attraction such
as: Beale Street, Graceland, Mud Island, The National
Civil Rights Museum and The Memphis Zoo. One of Marion’s
largest functions is the Esperanza Bonanza Festival
which is held every year on the first weekend in May.
The event started in 1993 as a sanctioned preliminary
event to Memphis in May International Barbecue Cooking
Championship. Over 15,000 people attend the event that
is filled with Bar B-Q Teams, carnival rides, live music
and many other activities.
Marion is a booming little town with a lot to offer and
is a safe place to call home.
